Introduction:
Disabilities do not equate to inabilities, and to celebrate the diversity and inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), the Social Welfare Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, is proud to announce VYOM-2023. This groundbreaking event is J&K’s first-of-its-kind Inclusive Fest, a distinctive 2-day gathering scheduled for December 28th-29th, 2023. We are honoured to host this event at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, located on Baba Saheb Ambedkar Road, Tawi, J&K. VYOM-2023 aims to demonstrate how people can come together to create a welcoming and inclusive world for everyone.
Objective:
Inviting Researchers / Academicians for Policy Inputs:
VYOM-2023 will invite research papers from experts and stakeholders to strengthen and shape policy inputs on RPWD Act 2016 and its implementation.
To debate and deliberate upon various dimensions of Disability rights, policies and issues in this domain in contemporary times. The objective is to develop policy ideas and options to address various issues and challenges of disability rights with Special emphasis on RPWD Act, 2016.
The VYOM-2023 (Inclusive Fest) also aims to explore the experiences and research of policymakers, academicians and research scholars to identify suitable indigenous strategies for disability sensitization and implementation of RPWD Act 2016.
The event is designed to encourage people to overcome personal stereotypes and establish an environment that not only educates everyone about the disabled community and their capabilities but also respects and celebrates diversity. VYOM-2023 has already garnered over 3,000 delegate registrations, including members of the disabled community and individuals from across the country. To assist delegates, both with and without disabilities, we have assembled a team of 300 local volunteers. Additionally, more than 10,000 visitors will experience the scale and impact of the event.
Every activity planned for VYOM-2023- J&K is purpose-driven. The Disability Dialogue sessions aim to foster dialogue among various stakeholders and empower persons with disabilities. The Sports events celebrate the spirit of competition and underscore the need for more Para games and activities to create greater opportunities for persons with disabilities.
VYOM-2023 – J&K’s theme will enable parents, NGOs, and other stakeholders to interact with service providers, resolving queries and improving services.
